The best things about being a parent.

| | ,

I adore being a parent, through all of the trials and tribulations of being a mum I can hand on heart say that I love it. There are a number of reasons that I love it, and obviously I couldn’t list every single one down because we’d be here forever BUT I thought it would make for a really nice blog post.

Don’t get me wrong, being a parent is hard work, I’m not going to lie and say it isn’t because of course it is. I have written a post in relation to the most difficult things about being a parent and that will be up very soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

The comedy gold

Kids are bloody hilarious. Especially when they’re little because it’s 100% true that toddlers are just like little drunk people, and I live for it. Grayson has Mark and I and so many other people in stitches so often and he doesn’t even mean to, because he’s just really really funny. Its hard to stay annoyed at them, because a lot of the time whatever they’re doing wrong is probably hilarious.

You get to play with toys again.

When they’re little little, the toys are pretty average and not really something that as an adult you can really engage it. It’s when they reach around 1 that the toys get better and the fun starts. Grayson’s favourite toys are duplo, drawing/playing with stickers and musical instruments and these are all things that you can actually join in with now. Grayson will take my hand and put a brick in it so that I’ll help him build, it’s great.

Watching them learn

I find this so fascinating. Grayson is at such an amazing age for this as well, he’s stringing sentences together and trying to figure out how things work and why the work. He’s also becoming so much more of a dare devil and trying to push boundaries, you could probably see the cogs in his head turning if you looked hard enough. I love watching him watch things or do things and just being an observer before taking part in anything.

The unconditional love

There honestly isn’t a love like it anywhere in the world, being a parent just brings this whole other dimension to the meaning of love. For some it starts the moment their baby is born and for others it can take longer, but when that love comes my god is it intense.

I often hold Grayson is my arms and just stare at him, because I’ve made this beautiful and wonderful little boy and I’m just in awe of him every single day. The same can be said for the love your child has for you, its absolutely incredible. Even if Grayson hasn’t said the words “I love you mummy” I know he does. From the cuddles and kisses, to the unwavering trust he has in me to protect him and make him better. He has the same unconditional love for me that I have for him.

As I said before, parenting is hard and difficult a lot of the time. It’s also so rewarding and special and there’s nothing quite like it, and there’s definitely a thousand more positives to the negatives.
